Job Profile:

Summary of Requisite Skills: Range Planning, Product selection, Cost negotiation and Vendor Mgmt, Budget Allocation, Margin Achievement, Inventory Management and  Routine Analysis. Responsible for Buying & Selecting catalogues for seasons, stock replenishment management, Sales & Promotion planning based on location, budgeting and analysis, case studies, competitor surveys, etc. 

1. Trend forecasting, planning merchandise for the upcoming seasons, regular co-ordination with designers.
2. To be responsible for all issues related to buying merchandise and coordinating with vendors for  the designated category.
3. Establishing relations with national buyers & dealing with vendors & suppliers for profitable  product merchandising.
4. Closely monitoring with supervising execution by understanding & taking on an active role in planning the Merchandise Mix with the Merchandising & Marketing Heads.
5. Understand various brands mix of Apparels & Accessories.
6. Understand the buyer or target audience’s buying behaviour & needs/requirements & to develop the selections/catalogues accordingly.
7. To source, develop and buy own label ranges in line with the product strategy that, through a balance of choice, value, quality, fashionability and desirability, continuously exceed the customer expectations while delivering the planned profitability.
8. Co-ordination on daily operational activities in pre-production sample development, preliminary screening & proto sample development.
9. Survey prime fashion shows from across the globe and identify the major trends of the season.
10. Compile, finalize and structure the selections.
11. Establish a strong client base for brand building exercises such as online/offline marketing, web portal development, visual merchandising and PR.
12. Pitch to various fashion designers, restaurants, event management firms and local businesses and achieve record pitch-to-contract conversion rates.
13. Interact with buyers for sampling, approvals, costing and order confirmation.
14. Facilitate communication and coordination between the fabric, pattern-making and print/embroidery/trims & other requisite design divisions.
15. Effective & Efficient coordination with various verticals through excellent interpersonal skills. 
16. Expanding the Brand credibility by understanding & building the BRAND buying & sourcing concept. 

Requisite Personal & Professional Abilities:
  • A thought & design leader with exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff at all levels and work under pressure.
  • Ability to utilise case studies, polls, survey group results & personal research findings towards
  • impeccable selection & procurement of merchandise.
  • Visible decision making ability with execution to conclusion capability.
  • Professionally sound, having grown in a highly sophisticated, competitive business environment
  • Should be well known & deeply networked in the industry.
  • Generating healthy business relationships with leading professionals and corporate houses.
Preferred Educational Background:
A Graduate degree in Arts, Garment Design and Manufacturing, Retail Marketing, Home Science [Textiles/Clothing], etc is preferred. Masters/PG in Marketing, Fashion Technology, Luxury Retail, Design, Merchandising, Apparel technology, Print, Textile, Merchandise Marketing, etc is preferred
